The Team

Tracey Pickford

My name is Tracey; I’m from the UK and have been living in Singapore since 2007.

Swimming has been a part of my life in some way or other ever since my parents ensured I could swim from a young age. I have been involved in competitive club swimming as a child and young teenager, synchronized swimming in my late teens and early twenties and more recently triathlon and open water distance swimming has become a big passion.

I have always believed that learning to swim at a young age is so important and it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to watch the kid’s confidence and ability grow. It’s not just about swimming well, but being safe in the water.

Being a distance swimmer I am also passionate about stroke refinement, helping adult swimmers to swim more efficiently, or overcome their fear of open water swimming.

I look forward to seeing you at the pool or beach soon!

Linda Wattus

Hi, my name is Linda Wattus and we moved to Singapore for the second time in 2010.

Having grown up in Australia, swimming is a part of everyday life. I grew up in a town near the ocean which meant it was important to be a strong swimmer so I could enjoy my weekends at the beach. I swam competitively as a kid and teenager and I have carried the love for swimming into my adult life.

Since living in Singapore and experiencing a condo lifestyle, pools and swimming are a part of all families lives. I feel it is an important life skill to be able to swim and love the fact it is something I can teach another person, whether it is a child or an adult.

I have 3 kids of my own and swimming is a big part of our lives here in Singapore. One rule in our house is if the kids want to swim and enjoy the pools with their friends, then they need to be strong swimmers and need to be competent in the water.

I love teaching kids and adults to swim, it is such an enjoyable experience. The kids I teach always put a smile on my face and everyone tries their hardest which is all anyone can ask. I love it!

Janelle Hicks

My name is Janelle and I am originally from Sydney, Australia. I lived in the UK for 8 years before moving to Singapore in 2011.

Swimming is an integral part of the Australian lifestyle and there is a strong emphasis on teaching children from a young age how to swim and be safe in and around water. I believe swimming is an essential skill our children need, especially living in Singapore where were have amazing pools to swim in but are not secure as our pools might be in our home countries.  Now that my 2 girls are in school, I became Austswim trained and certified so that I could teach those same skills to children in Singapore.  I really enjoy teaching children and find it so rewarding to see the progress my students make in their confidence and abilities. Making the lessons enjoyable certainly helps!

Jenny Boyce

Hi, I’m Jenny. I’m from the UK and have been living in Singapore since 2014. From a very young age participating in sports has been a huge part of my life. I’ve always enjoyed the competitive side of sports and achieving my black belt in Karate and competing at European level was a huge success in my sporting career. This led me to an early career in teaching Karate to young children and adults. During this time I was also given the opportunity to take on the role as a swim instructor, working at a camp for under privileged children. Watching them grow and achieve something was so rewarding. Moving to Singapore and having 3 young children of my own (2 mermaids and 1 aspiring merlion) i was given a chance to go back into teaching. The Singapore lifestyle gives us the opportunity for children to swim at a young age and I wanted provide an environment that is fun but also demonstrates and practices safe activity around the water during lessons. I’m passionate about teaching and I enjoy being part of my students journey where I can see progress over a period of time.
