Swimming Lessons

Starfish (Babies)

Parent and Child Aquatic Level 1

Picture For babies from 6 months to 18 months, parental involvement required.

Water classes are a great time for fun, bonding and learning for both the parent and baby. Swimming helps babies and toddlers with co-ordination, strength, endurance and lung capacity.

In the Parent and child aquatics level 1 swimming classes we aim to work with the parent in the pool to build up the babies’ confidence in the water through fun, games and songs.

The ultimate aim of this class is for the baby/toddler to become comfortable in the water, while learning basic safety skills that will progress them on to the next level.

We will teach the correct holds, breath control, entering cues and back floating in a fun, enthusiastic and safe environment.

Each child will progress and develop at different levels and as instructors will always make sure that every child is working within their own capabilities.

At the end of this level the expectation is that the baby/toddler will be proficient in the following skills:

  • Getting wet with toys
  • Getting wet kicking
  • Enter water by lifting in
